Bio

Dr. Charles “Cole” Woodard is a management scholar and Assistant Professor of Management in the Department of Management and Marketing at Jacksonville State University’s College of Business and Industry. His research examines organizational behavior, ethical leadership, workplace well-being, and management education, with particular interests in conservation of resources theory, workplace burnout, organizational ethics, and innovative approaches to experiential learning.

A lawyer, Cole brings a practical legal perspective to his teaching and scholarship, emphasizing ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and the application of business principles to real-world organizational challenges. His scholarship has appeared in journals including the International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Philosophy of Management, Management Teaching Review, and the Journal of Education for Business.

Cole is passionate about designing original experiential learning activities that bridge research and practice. He develops classroom simulations, interactive web-based learning experiences, and applied consulting projects that help students build the judgment, leadership, and problem-solving skills needed for today’s workplace. His teaching philosophy emphasizes learning by doing, encouraging students to engage with authentic managerial challenges rather than simply memorizing concepts.

Beyond the classroom, Cole serves as Faculty Advisor for Jacksonville State University’s SHRM Student Chapter and as President & Faculty Advisor for Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 284, mentors students pursuing graduate and legal education, and actively involves students in faculty research. He also serves as Associate Editor for Management Teaching Review and contributes to the profession through manuscript and conference reviewing.
